Adam Bain

Adam Bain has been an attorney in the Department of Justice for 35 years. During that time, his primary responsibility has been defending the United States in toxic tort litigation. Bain’s cases typically involve many claimants who are seeking millions of dollars from the United States for personal injuries and property damages. The litigation usually involves complex legal, factual, and scientific issues. During his career, Bain has represented the United States in trials and hearings in federal district courts throughout the United States. His job has given him the opportunity to work with many interesting current and former public servants, including: soldiers and civilians, who provided for the national defense from World War II to the present; Forest Service fire fighters, who responded to some of the nation’s largest wildfires; and government officials, who provided relief for national disasters, including Hurricane Katrina. Bain has also worked with some of the nation’s top experts in toxicology, epidemiology, psychology, hydrogeology, and environmental engineering. Additionally, Bain has represented the United States and presented oral arguments in seven of the federal circuit courts of appeals. He has also written several articles in law reviews and journals, which have been cited by courts, litigants, and academics. He is a frequent faculty member at the Department of Justice’s National Advocacy Center where he typically lectures on the discovery of electronic information and the use of expert witnesses.
Chris Buckle

Chris Buckle, who joined ESPN in 2010, is the company’s Vice President of Investigative and Enterprise Journalism Unit, leading a team of roughly 50 journalists. An exceptional, nationally-respected journalist, Buckle has managed and edited a myriad of impactful, cross-platform investigative and enterprise projects that appear under various ESPN brands. He is a two-time Peabody Award honoree, a five-time Sports Emmy winner, and a recipient of the Alfred I. duPont Award among other recognition. His group’s 2022 short film, “Betsy & Irv,” has been accepted into 10 international film festivals, and a related digital piece that published on ESPN digital platforms was the most-engaged story worldwide in 2022 among more than 20 million pieces of content. Before joining ESPN, Buckle had a career in newspapers of all sizes; he joined ESPN from being the personal finance editor at USA Today. Prior, he was an assistant managing editor at The Dallas Morning News and worked in newspapers in New York, New Jersey and Ohio. An avid cyclist and triathlete, Buckle graduated from Purdue University and resides in Connecticut with his wife.
Lisa Catino
Instructional Designer
Lisa Catino is an instructional designer with a background in training and development of adult learners. Working with federal, state and local governments, she has served as a mentor and advisor of diversity and inclusion efforts, including Section 508 compliance. As a part of her training, she focuses on universal design and accessibility for adult learners. Lisa has a Master’s in Educational / Instructional Technology from Purdue University and a Master’s of Education and Human Development from The George Washington University. She serves as a NextGen Advisor Council member and advisor for university and post graduate students with disabilities.
Daniel Delgado

Daniel Delgado joined the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in January 2021, where he currently serves as the Director for Border and Immigration Policy. In this role, Mr. Delgado leads the development and coordination of key immigration policies and border security measures across the Department. Prior to this role, Mr. Delgado served in a number of advisory roles at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) where he advised senior leadership on immigration policy and legislative matters. Mr. Delgado holds a B.A. in political science from Purdue University, an M.A. in Latin American Studies from the School of Foreign Service (SFS) at Georgetown University, and a graduate certificate in refugees and humanitarian emergencies from the Institute for the Study of International Migration at SFS.
Marcus Glassman

Marcus Glassman is the Vice President for Programs at the Supporters of Agricultural Research (SoAR) Foundation leading the foundation’s portfolio of agricultural research and policy initiatives, both global and domestic. Glassman joined SoAR in 2021 as a Program Officer and previously served as SoAR’s Program Director for International Policy and Programs where he led SoAR’s work in global agriculture policy, international development, and climate adaptation research. An epidemiologist by training, he has an extensive background in global agricultural and development policy across the research, philanthropy, and advocacy sectors. Glassman is an alumnus of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and USDA Agricultural Research Service. He holds a Master of Science in Public Health from The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Purdue University.
Cory Harris

Cory Harris is 2015 alum with degrees in Applied Agriculture Economics and Political Science. In his current role, Cory is a director of government affairs at the Vogel Group where he leads the top-20 lobbying firm’s agriculture practice. Cory’s career has focused on the intersection of agriculture and public policy, spanning issues across the sector and serving in roles at the state and federal level for leading trade associations, fortune 500 companies, and on Capitol Hill. Cory is the President of the Purdue Alumni Association of Washington and resides in Washington with his wife, Sarah and their young son.

After growing up on a farm in Southern Indiana and attending Purdue University to study agriculture, Grace Hasler found the perfect intersection in her passion for ag and love for advocacy in politics. After graduation, she joined BASF’s Agriculture Professional Development Program. As part of this rotational program, she has lived in Raleigh, NC where she worked with an accelerator program for startups in digital agriculture, moved to Washington, DC to dabble in State Affairs, and now serves as an arm of the Federal Public & Government Affairs team. She’ll receive a full time role with the company in June.

During his time at Purdue, he worked as a Congressional intern for U.S. Representative Larry Bucshon, was part of the Fast Track news team and worked in the Purdue Writing Lab. He holds a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from Purdue University.

Sutton Tyson

Sutton Tyson is an avid journalist, storyteller, and justice advocate. For almost a decade, Sutton has provided timely and accurate information to the media and public surrounding national security, politics, and justice. Sutton joined CBS News in 2022 as Booking Producer and is responsible for securing federal government, political, economic, and breaking news guests for CBS News Streaming Network. Prior to her current role at CBS News, in 2017, Sutton began working at the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a spokesperson in the National Press Office. She represented the FBI with national and international media outlets, covering national security, criminal, and counterintelligence matters. Sutton followed her passion for justice, serving as the Strategic Partnerships Associate at the Human Trafficking Institute. She also served in multiple roles at International Justice Mission (IJM), a global organization working to end violence against people living in poverty. During her time with IJM, Sutton led hundreds of college students as president of the National Student Leadership Team. She also helped launch the global Stand for Freedom awareness campaign in 2016. In her spare time, Sutton enjoys traveling with her wife, enjoying the D.C. food scene, and cuddling with her French bulldog puppy, Roco. Sutton graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Purdue University.

Bryce J. Dietrich is an associate professor in the Department of Political Science and research scholar at the Center for C-SPAN Scholarship and Engagement (CCSE). His research uses novel quantitative, automated, and machine learning methods to analyze non-traditional data sources such as audio (or speech) data and video data. These methods are used to understand the causes and consequences of non-verbal cues, such as vocal inflections and walking trajectories, especially as they relate to elite political behavior.
His work has appeared in the Nature, American Political Science Review, Journal of Politics, Political Analysis, and Political Psychology. This work has also received grant support from major organizations, like NIH and NSF, and has been covered by popular outlets like NPR, BBC, The Economist, The Washington Post, and FiveThirtyEight. Finally, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois and was recently a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School and Northeastern University.
Jake Truscott is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the C-SPAN Center for Scholarship and Engagement. His research principally focuses on integrating computational methods with traditional questions in judicial politics – particularly of the United States Supreme Court. His work has been published or featured in The Journal of Law and Courts, Justice System Journal, SCOTUSBlog, The Washington Post, and the Associated Press, among others.
