Faculty and Graduate Student Research Grant Program
The Center for C-SPAN Scholarship & Engagement (CCSE) is providing funding to Purdue University full-time faculty members and graduate students to support projects that utilize the C-SPAN Video Library in the areas of humanities, arts, and social sciences.

FUNDING GUIDELINES
- Funded projects must be completed within one year of award
- Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals, if relevant, must be present prior to fund dispersal
- A midterm project status report must be provided to the CCSE indicating successful progress toward project completion to justify continued funding of the project
- A final project report and/or departmental presentation by awardees will be delivered at the end of the project term
FUNDING GUIDELINES
Supported Budgetary Items may include:
- Summer funding
- Participant recruitment
- Data transcription
- Data coding
- Undergraduate or graduate research assistant to facilitate data collection or coding
- Secondary dataset access
- Specialized software not licensed by Purdue
- Travel support for data collection purposes
- Project-relevant reference books
Funds cannot be requested for:
- Regular conference travel typically funded by departmental travel funds
- General use computer equipment (i.e., laptops, tablets, etc.)
- Funds are intended to seed new research and would not normally be used as supplements to existing significant internal or external funds
PROPOSAL CRITERIA
- Demonstrates how the project will utilize the C-SPAN Video Library
- Has the potential to make scholarly contributions to humanities, arts and social sciences
- Demonstrates innovation in data collection, research methods and analysis
- Demonstrates feasibility within project timeline and budget
- Identifies a peer-reviewed target publication and presentation outlets
- Aligns with outside funding opportunities that will enhance future applications to relevant funding sources after the completion of the proposed project
PROGRAM INFORMATION
The Center for C-SPAN Scholarship & Engagement (CCSE) is providing funding to Purdue University full-time faculty members and graduate students to support projects that utilize the C-SPAN Video Library in the areas of humanities, arts, and social sciences.
To support research, the CCSE has allocated $10,000 for AY 2024-2025. The grant amount awarded will be based on the budgetary requirements of the proposal.
Full-time faculty and graduate students are encouraged to submit proposals for:
- Academic research which holds promise for peer-reviewed publication or presentation at a scholarly proceeding
- Preliminary research for initial data collection and analysis that will seed external funding
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Completed funding application form (available electronically from the CCSE)
- Project narrative of 750 words or less addressing proposal criteria
- Itemized project timeline and budget
- References
- CV not to exceed 2 pages
- The CCSE Grant Program Committee will accept proposals on a rolling admission basis
