Congratulations to Dr. Shaohua Fang on winning a $10,000 Language Learning Early Career Research Grant to support his project “Task Design Features and L2 Learners’ Truth-Value Judgments”!
During the 2025-26 academic year, Shaohua will conduct four experiments to examine how certain design features of truth-value judgment tasks— modality, context format, language, and context content—affect adult L2 learners’ interpretations of English quantifier scope sentences. This research will enhance SLA methodological rigor by grounding choices in evidence and improving confidence in data interpretation. These experiments will be conducted in collaboration with Elaine Francis and will involve two undergraduate researchers.
