Elena Coda
Please join me in congratulating Elena Coda, professor of Italian in the School of Languages and Cultures, on receiving the Society of Authors’ John Florio Book Prize along with her co-translator, Nicholas Benson, for their translation of My Karst and My City by Scipio Slataper.
The John Florio Book Prize was established in 1963 and is awarded biannually for an English translation of a full-length publication from Italian. “The scholarship and athleticism required to render this many-textured project into tonal English is nothing short of staggering,” expressed the award judges in an official statement.
Congratulations, Professor Coda!
