Academics

The College of Liberal Arts prepares students to be adaptable and have the ability to advance change in a fast-moving work environment. Collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams across Purdue disciplines with students whose problem solving approach is different than their own prepares liberal arts students to thrive in any field and to contribute in significant ways. Having strong skills in creative thinking, communication, and problem solving is critically important in today's world.

A Three-Part Curriculum

Each liberal arts major is designed as a four-year plan of study and includes three types of courses: major, core, and elective. Most students take five courses per semester, with some of each type.

Professional academic advisors meet individually with each of our students on a regular basis to help with course selection, academic planning, and career development, as well as to help students find additional resources on campus.

The Bachelor of Arts degree at Purdue requires 126 total credit hours, or approximately 42 courses, of three types: courses in your major, core liberal arts courses, and electives. To learn more about these courses, review the undergraduate core curriculum. Some additional requirements may need to be met in order to graduate.

Liberal arts degrees have become tech's hottest ticket. Read More
