Purdue Galleries presents a pair of contemporary figurative sculptors in an exhibit curated by Assistant Professor of Art & Design Sigrid K. Zahner. “Performative Objects” features the ceramic works of Christyl Boger and Anne Drew Potter.
Boger’s work mixes representations of the contemporary figure with decorative ceramics, creating a "figure-as-figurine" theme that is as much about structured human behavior as the object of physical beauty.
Potter creates “performative objects” that address the ways in which social meaning is projected onto the forms of the body through manipulated anatomical signifiers meant to question our feelings about normalcy, difference, and what defines being human.
“Performative Objects ” is presented in collaboration with the Patti & Rusty Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts.
