Alive Inside: The Lure and Lore of the Sideshow
Robert L. Ringel Gallery, PMU and Stewart Center Gallery August 28 through October 8, 2006

This exhibition plumbs the after-effects and visual residue of the sideshow as interpreted by a group of contemporary artists. While the 10-in-1 is no longer a common attraction, its legacy lives on in the work of these fourteen artists who use the historic sideshow as muse or point of departure. On display will be contemporary banners, ceramic vessels and figures, fictional composite taxidermy mounts, clothing and accessories, drawings and prints. “Alive Inside” was produced by the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art at the College of Charleston.
