The Borgen Project (non-profit organization)
What was the most exciting thing about your role?
I helped people to know how to downsize poverty by doing small things in their life. Maybe people just need 2 minutes to make a call, then congressman would discuss their proposal in the meeting.
Describe the most meaningful experience you had as an intern.
I planned a community event which benefits teenagers living in our community. The event includes game race and share opinions about global problems. I think it is very meaningful for the community and myself.
How did you apply your Liberal Arts-skills to your internship position?
I used a lot of PR knowledge to complete advocacy jobs at this nonprofit org. For example, I learned about how to do media pitch at my COM 257 class, which is about PR technique. This internship asks me to reach many different media platforms for publication about downsizing global poverty.
How has your internship prepared you for your career?
I chose this internship because I want to dabble the non profit organization. This position fulfills my expectations about non profit org and public relations related jobs. When I work here for the past three months, I read so many information about philanthropy and donations. Those information broaden my horizon about non profit org.
