Legacies: Remembering Foundational Art Department Faculty

In this exhibition, "Legacies: Remembering Foundational Art Department Faculty," we are honoring and celebrating seven of our long-serving faculty members who have passed in the last three years:

• Laura Drake

• George Geahigan

• Robin Kraft

• Arne Kvaalen

• Al Pounders

• Ralph Scarcelli

• Linda Vanderkolk

They were colleagues who all began their careers in Matthews Hall or the Creative Arts buildings on the north end of the Purdue campus before Yue-Kong Pao Hall opened in 2003. They were the lifeblood of our programs over many decades, instructing and mentoring thousands of students, many of whom are teachers and artists in our community.

Share a Memory

Your legacy is every life you have touched, and everyone you have shown up for. We would like to hear from people who were helped, mentored, or taught by these dedicated artists/teachers. Please share a memory, a story, what made them special, how they affected your work or your view of yourself as an artist, etc. using the survey button provided. What is shared will be compiled and put into a binder in the gallery in the hopes that we can further appreciate the impact they had and continue to have in the lives of their former students. Thank you for your time and thoughtful observations.

"Legacies:  Remembering Foundational Art Department Faculty" is on display in the Rueff Galleries East & West from January 12 through January 27.  The gallery is open Monday through Saturday 10am-7pm.

Please join us for a reception held Thursday, January 19, at

5:30pm in the Rueff Galleries, Pao Hall.
