Michael Schmierer graduated from Purdue University in 2014 with a duel Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History. Upon graduation Michael joined the Indiana House of Representatives staff in June, 2014. Michael assists a caseload of three Indiana House of Representatives legislators with scheduling, constituent casework, and policy research. Michael's policy focus has been roads, transportation, and infrastructure issues. During his time with the House he has staffed the House Roads and Transportation Committee. While a student at Purdue, Michael was active in the College of Liberal Arts, where he served on the CLA Leadership Council and held an internship with the Liberal Arts Development Office. He was also involved as a campus tour guide with the Purdue Office of Admissions and with his fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi, where he served 1 1/2 years on the Executive Board. His other prior internship experience includes interning for Governor Michael R. Pence's external operations team as well as working on the subscription information team for Gold and Black Illustrated. In his free time, Schmierer enjoys following politics, golfing, reading about American history, following Purdue athletics, and traveling the world.
