John Sundquist completed a Ph.D. and M.A. in Germanic linguistics at Indiana University, and bachelor’s degrees in German and English at Valparaiso University. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses, focusing on historical linguistics, morphosyntax, corpus linguistics, and German language and culture. 

Dr. Sundquist specializes in historical German linguistics with an emphasis on morphosyntatic variation and changes in German, Swedish, Danish, and English. He is also interested in German language learning and teaching.

Sundquist has many publications including peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. His publications have appeared in the Journal of Historical Linguistics, Journal of Germanic Linguistics, Linguistic Inquiry, STEAM Education, Historical Linguistics, and Continuity and Change in Grammar, among others.
