Doug Osman received his M.A. from Michigan State University in 1988, also having studied at the University of Michigan and the University of South Florida. His creative endeavor includes working as an independent documentarian and filmmaker, in nearly every format of electronic media production.

Osman’s work has screened at film and media festivals around the world, including the Sedona International Film Festival and the Golden Lion Festival in South Africa.  His interests include production outreach, using converged media as a means of bringing remote educational opportunities and experiences into K-12 classrooms via the internet.  Osman is presently focused on environmental documentary filmmaking.  His recent works include a series of documentary collaborations with The Nature Conservancy, exploring that organization’s property in the environmentally-sensitive Green Swamp of North Carolina.

Osman is working on a community engagement grant that will bring students together with educators and environmental naturalists. Together, these teams will produce a series of short documentaries highlighting the ecology and biological aspects of the Lilly Nature Center in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Osman is the advisor to Purdue’s Fast Track, a student-produced half hour weekly newsmagazine.  The program appears on local cable in Tippecanoe County and on the Purdue campus.
