Betsy Liley leads NPR’s institutional giving team and institutional giving efforts, focused on foundation and corporate philanthropy as well as government support.
Betsy previously was assistant vice president for corporate and foundation relations at Purdue University. In that role, she led a system-wide team that raised more than $120 million in 2010, exceeding their $100 million goal. While at Purdue, she staffed the University’s top alumni group, the Purdue Foundation Development Council, since its inception. Betsy also served on the University’s Institutional Accreditation Review committee.
Prior to working in educational fundraising, Liley worked in public policy. She started her career in journalism as a reporter and editor, and taught journalism.
While at Purdue, she was editor of The Purdue Exponent, and a member of Mortar Board, Old Masters, Omicron Delta Kappa, Sigma Kappa and other campus organizations.
