Kevin Mayer is responsible for brand operations and Planning, advertising, digital communications, relationship marketing and sales promotions at Chevrolet. Mayer’s previous positions include Director, Marketing Communications at Subaru; SVP, Account Director at DentsuNext Advertising; Director of Marketing and Product Strategy for Mitsubishi Motors; and National Manager Corporate Strategic Planning and National Advertising for Hyundai Motors of America.
Mayer cut his teeth in the advertising space with notable agencies like Grey Advertising and Alcone Marketing working on a myriad of accounts such as Nestle Chocolate, The Gillette Company, Mitsubishi, and the California Lottery. Mayer has over 21 years of advertising and marketing expertise in both client-side and agency managerial roles in both the packaged goods and automotive categories. Working in the automotive industry since 1995, his experience spans various roles in brand management, business planning, product management, strategy and marketing communications.
Mayer’s achievements have established him as a brand innovator best known for leading the marketing strategy during two automotive turnarounds: Hyundai Motors of America 1998 – 2003 (400% sales growth) and Subaru of America 2007 – 2010 (90% market share growth). As a result, Mayer’s teams have been acknowledged with Gold Effies (1999, 2005), Media Post’s/Ad Age’s Marketer of the Year (2008), and Brandweek’s 50 Hottest US Brands (2009).
