J. Jill Suitor

Please join me in congratulating Jill Suitor on her appointment as Distinguished Professor of Sociology.

A Purdue faculty member since 2004 and faculty associate of the Center on Aging and the Life Course, Jill has established herself as an authority on within-family differences and parental favoritism. Since launching her Within-Family Differences Study in 2001, Jill and her collaborators have published more than 50 articles in scholarly journals and volumes and have received widespread media attention for their work.

Jill’s groundbreaking family research brings prestige to the department, the college, and Purdue University. It is altogether fitting that her accomplishments in the field be recognized with this honor.

The Board of Trustees ratified her promotion to the rank of Distinguished Professor of Sociology today.
