Erin VanEmon has spent over twelve years in event planning for Purdue University. Upon her graduation from Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts theatre program in 2005, Erin accepted the position as Event Production Manager for Hall of Music Productions. For four years, she managed a variety of live events ranging from small lectures to large Broadway tour stops at Elliott Hall of Music. She oversaw the event schedules, crew, and technical needs. In 2010, Erin left Purdue and took a position with an event production company in Indianapolis for a year. After a restructure within that company, Erin decided to leave the event industry and spent three years working in insurance.
Erin was approach by Hall of Music Productions in 2013 to discuss the possibility of returning. A couple of months later, she was thrilled to be back doing what she loved. Over the course of the next seven years, Erin managed thousands of events. She had opportunities to make great partnerships around campus and meet some amazing guests and performers. Some of her favorite events were the Presidential Lecture Series and Purdue University Sesquicentennial events.
A new opportunity presented itself in early 2021 to further expand her event planning skills. Instead of solely focusing on the technical theatre aspects, she would have the opportunity to plan events from a more traditional event planner role. She accepted a position with the Purdue University College of Pharmacy as the Manager of Alumni Relations and Special Events. Erin is currently planning alumni and student events both on and off campus and looking for engagement and relationship opportunities for the nearly 13,000 pharmacy alumni. Most recently she was honored to be asked by the College of Liberal Arts to assist with a once in a lifetime opportunity to welcome President George W. Bush to campus.
Erin shares her life with partner Mark and Bob the cat. When she’s not planning events, you’ll most likely find her in the kitchen creating a new dish, enjoying summers outdoors, or planning her next travel adventure. Thanks to her love of music, all of these activities will include music playing in the background.
