Welcome to the Phonetics and Phonology Lab at Purdue University

Welcome to the Experimental Phonetics and Phonology Lab at Purdue University. The lab, directed by Olga Dmitrieva, conducts a wide range of research in the areas of acoustic phonetics, laboratory phonology, and speech perception. Broadly, we are interested in the ways humans use speech sounds for communication in both monolingual and multilingual settings. Areas of special focus include phonetics and phonology of second language acquisition, phonetic drift and first language attrition in the context of bilingualism, and phonetics of voicing across languages.
