David Omholt has extensive experience in the private and public sectors, as well as internationally. Having worked with companies both large and small, Omholt’s roots are in small business and founded The Entrepreneur Authority (TEA) to work with aspiring "franchipreneurs." TEA is the leading franchise development and franchise brokerage firm in the country. Omholt heads the Franchise Center of Excellence, a training program which educates franchise consultants on the finer points of franchising.
Omholt is a frequent speaker at universities, conferences, and talk shows on franchising, entrepreneurship, and small business ownership. Omholt has the distinction of being on the Fair Franchising Standards Committee of the American Association of Franchisees and Dealers (AAFD) which promotes total quality franchising and win-win relationships between franchisees and franchisors.
Prior to founding TEA, Omholt was an Executive with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) for 10 years in their Retail Industry consulting practice. Some of Omholt’s projects received global awards for the success and turnaround brought to the client.
An avid writer, Omholt was a contributing author to Achieving Quality Performance, a book which outlines how improved teamwork, innovation, and quality lead to overall enhanced business performance. He is often quoted in publications on franchising trends and matters. Currently, he leads research on the franchise industry in conjunction with the University of North Texas. Additionally, he endows UNT's David E. Omholt Entrepreneurship Scholarship which is awarded to top entrepreneurship majors. Omholt was awarded the CLA Emerging Voice Award (2009) and was named as one of Purdue Alumnus magazine’s 40 Under 40 (2010).
