Audio Director- Call of Duty, Activision – Sledgehammer Games, Castro Valley, CA

David Swenson is the Audio Director for Call of Duty developed by Activision and Sledgehammer Games. David is an award winning game developer; having lead the audio teams on some of the most popular video games in the industry. Over the past decade, David’s sounds have been enjoyed by tens of millions of video-game fans worldwide. In his role at Activision, David is currently leading the audio team for the #1 entertainment franchise in the world. Most recently, David’s team developed 2014’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare which won the award for Audio of the Year.

David earned an undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and an MFA in sound design and technology from Purdue University. Before taking his position with Activision and Call of Duty, David worked at EA Games where he received a BAFTA Award (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) as well as an Academy Award (Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences) for his sound design work on EA’s video game, Dead Space. In addition to his work in video games, David’s sound credits have ranged from designing the sound for Super Bowl commercials, working as a sound engineer for the host broadcast company at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, and most recently designing the sound for a new Broadway-style musical produced by Disney Theatrical and titled When You Wish.

David’s most important achievement, however, was convincing his beautiful wife Ashley to marry him. Together they have 3 amazing kids; Kody, Kyle and Riley Jane.
