Daniel Melbert is a fourth-year undergraduate and first-year graduate student at Purdue University, born and raised in Indiana. He is set to complete his undergraduate studies in the spring of 2025, earning BAs in History and Artificial Intelligence. He is entering his first year of graduate studies this fall to earn a master’s degree in History under the guidance of Dr. Ekaterina Babintseva. Guided by a longstanding interest in technology, history, and philosophy, alongside newfound passions for human rights, decolonization, and data ethics, his research interests lie in the intersections of technology, class, the legacies of colonialism, and the experiences of historically marginalized and oppressed peoples. Outside of academics, Daniel is an avid hiker, reader, and lover of all things psych rock — devoting whatever extra time he has to discovering his new favorite album or writing and composing music with his band.
