Office and Contact

Darien Santmyer earned his Master of Arts in Philosophy from Oklahoma State University in 2022. His main philosophical interests are in phenomenology, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of medicine. He is especially interested in the works of Maurice Merleau-Ponty and the application of phenomenological accounts to psychology. In his master’s thesis, he argued that the psychological disturbances characteristic of schizophrenia can inform us about the nature of the self, and he wishes to continue this work at Purdue. Outside of philosophy, he enjoys cooking and maintaining a small windowsill garden. He also enjoys reading in his spare time, especially science fiction and the works of Shakespeare.
