Katherine Dean is a Continuing Lecturer of Photography in the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance. She holds an MFA in Photography from Memphis College of Art and a BFA in Photography from the University of North Florida. Dean’s work exist at the merger of traditional and contemporary photography. Her research combines modern ideas and imagery with historic processes and/or manipulating traditional processes to explore the relationship between time, memory, and space. Dean continues to redefine the traditional methods in which photography is presented, working heavily with photographic installations and sculptures. Her work has been exhibited extensively at the national level and has won several exhibition awards.
