1.) How did you learn about this internship opportunity?
I first learned about the internship opportunity at PwC China through a referral by my parents. They emphasized the importance of networking and suggested that I explore internships in reputable firms like PwC to gain valuable experience. I followed their advice and actively reached out to my extended network, which eventually led to a contact within PwC's human resources department.
2.) How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals?
With a background in both Communication and Economics majors, my internship as a Communication and Marketing Intern at PwC China was a perfect fit. I collaborated with the marketing team on various projects, including marketing research for PwC's collaboration with international companies. This hands-on experience allowed me to apply the knowledge gained from my academic studies to real-world scenarios, bridging the gap between theory and practice.
3.) How do you apply your Liberal Arts skills to your internship?
Throughout my internship, I have effectively applied the interpersonal communication skills which have been essential in working collaboratively with diverse teams, understanding client needs, and presenting marketing research findings to stakeholders. Also, the networking skills I learned in the course SCLA 300 have been invaluable in building professional relationships within the company and beyond.
4.) What is a piece of advice you would give someone looking for an internship?
I would emphasize the importance of networking. Connect with professors, peers, alumni, and professionals in the industry to gain insights and potential leads. Moreover, always keep an eye on the official website and social media channels of companies you are interested in. Many organizations, including PwC, regularly post internship openings on their websites and other platforms.
