Dance Program

With many ways to get involved with Dance at Purdue, there is a place for you here.

PCDC

Purdue Contemporary Dance Company

The resident dance company of the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance, PCDC presents one main stage concert each semester in the Nancy T. Hansen Theatre. Made up of dancers from all majors, dancers of all dance backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Company members contribute creatively to the rehearsal process and learn how to perform with technical and expressive proficiency works choreographed by a mix of faculty, alumni, and select Dance Program students.

XSeries

XSeries

This performance series is produced and directed by Dance Program students and is open to all Purdue students, and does not involve an audition. Dance Xchange provide a space to share works in process and to receive constructive feedback. The Xperimental and XWorks concerts are opportunities to share increasingly more finished pieces in a less formal atmosphere than a main stage concert.

Courses

Courses and Plans of Study

The Dance Program offers technique courses at multiple levels in a variety of styles, including modern, ballet, Jazz, improvisation, and hip hop. You can also explore the production side of dance, from backstage to onstage, choreography, dance and technology, dance history, and the place of dance and other art in social movements. Pursue a Dance Minor or apply dance courses to Purdue’s innovative Interdisciplinary Performance Major.

Artist in Residence

PCDC Alumni Artist in Residence

If you are a dance alum, we want to collaborate with you to develop choreographic work with PCDC dancers. We will provide you with a modest stipend and the opportunity to present your work as part of one of the main stage PCDC concerts in the fall or spring semesters.
