Special Feature on Theory and Action in Stage Directing with Ann M. Shanahan
New Theatre Department Chair Published
In this special issue of the SDC Journal, the official publication of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society focusing on theatre in higher education, Department of Theatre Chairperson Ann M. Shanahan discusses the interplay of theory and action in her work as a teacher, scholar, artist, and administrator.
This issue of the print magazine centers on issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching theatre directing and choreography in higher education, with features covering best practices in staging intimacy, building brave spaces, and new casting and training methods. As part of SDC's ongoing effort to build bridges between the profession and the training in academy, Professor Shanahan co-founded a peer-reviewed section of the journal with Anne Fliotsos (Professor of Theatre) in 2014, for which she continues to serve as co-editor.
