Other Scholarships

Below you will find a list of scholarships tailored specifically for students in Languages and Cultures. While these scholarships are competitive, as a SLC student (major and/or minor) you will have access to our dedicated faculty who will be happy to write recommendation letters and offer advice and support. 

NISO SUPPORTED SCHOLARSHIPS

These prestigious scholarships are administered by the National and International Scholarship Office (NISO) here on Purdue campus. Their dedicated staff will guide you through the application process, providing feedback and support.

Boren Scholarship:  gives you the opportunity to Study abroad in countries with languages critical to U.S. national security.  

Gilman Scholarship: For recipients of federal Pell grants, this scholarship allows you to study abroad or receive an international internship.

Schwarzman Scholars Program: allows you to study for one year at Tsinghua University, one of China's leading universities.

OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS

Critical Language Scholarship (CLS):  The CLS Program provides opportunities for American college and university students to study languages and cultures essential to America's engagement with the world. 

Freeman Awards for Study in Asia: provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.
