Study Abroad

Purdue sponsors 400+ study abroad opportunities for students. These programs are coordinated through the Study Abroad Office in International Programs.

When students study abroad, they receive direct Purdue credit for the courses they take. These credits may be used to fulfill major, minor, and CLA Core requirements. You or faculty members in your department may be contacted by CLA Study Abroad & International Programs staff (William Sartore, wsartore@purdue.edu, or Brooke Armstrong, armstr87@purdue.edu) to evaluate syllabi from foreign universities.

You may also be contacted by Study Abroad staff and asked to evaluate a program of study in your academic field offered at a university outside the United States as additional partnerships are developed.

Faculty members in your department may wish to develop and offer a department-led study abroad programs. Please be sure faculty in your department are aware of the CLA guidelines for approving study abroad courses (Guidelines for CLA Departmental Study Abroad Courses at Purdue University) before they prepare their course proposal. For questions about study abroad, contact either Associate Dean Joel Ebarb, jebarb@purdue.edu, our college liaison with International Programs, or William Sartore, Director of Study Abroad and International Programs in the College of Liberal Arts.
