2017-2018
Sydney Gunty won the graffiti competition (above) as part of IIDA’s national student design charrette at NeoCon in Chicago!
Amanda Wegener was awarded the Legends IN Design scholarship and Cassandra Crawford was awarded the Gwendolyn Burkhardt Scholarship both by the Interior Design Coalition of Indiana in June.
Hannah Bulow, Mercedes Arenas, Cassandra Crawford, and Laura Blythe (above) claimed four of the nine lighting awards presented at the 41st annual SOURCE Awards, a student competition focused on the use of lighting as a primary design element. This year's winners were recognized on May 7 at LIGHTFAIR International 2018 in Chicago, IL. The SOURCE Awards competition focuses on furthering the understanding, knowledge and function of lighting as a primary element in design.
Sydney Gunty, Laura Blythe and Cassandra Crawford placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd in the Indiana ASID student design competition in March.
Also in March, Graduate student, Diana Pulido Ruiz was selected as a national finalist in the IDEC student design competition.
2016-2017
Cynthia Rumas (above) was awarded the 2017 IDEA Award by the International Interior Design Association for her project, Link.
Yue Peng and Abigail Chin place first and second in the Indiana ASID student design competition
Kathleen Haines was selected as a national finalist in the Steelcase NEXT student design competition. Kathleen was flown to Grand Rapids for a 3 day event where she met and gave her final presentation in front of the judges.
Abigail chin received the Student Award of Recognition at the 40th annual SOURCE Awards national lighting design competition by Eaton Corporation.
In February, Interior Design major, Marisa Smith was selected as the Department of Art and Design’s Outstanding Senior.

Hannah Densel Outstanding Interior Design Portfolio Award
This award recognizes the senior interior design major who has created the program’s best portfolio in the eyes of the faculty. The award honors the memory of Hannah Densel BA ’14 who tragically lost her life in an automobile accident the week of her senior exhibition in 2014. Her degree was awarded posthumously by the university.
