Immersive Telepresence Project

Professor of Theatre History and Criticism, Dr. Anne Fliotsos, has been experimenting with the use of telepresence in theatre with Dr. Tom Gorman of Coventry University in the UK. Using videoconferencing, large rear projection screens, and directional sound, the Immersive Telepresence in Theatre project explores a shared theatre space simulated in real-time for students in locations across the globe. Fliotsos’ work has been referenced recently in The Guardian and in her self-authored article in the Fall 2020 Special Issue of the SDC Journal (page 60). She has also presented her findings at national and international conferences.
