Ilwoo Ju received his PhD from the University of Tennessee. Prior to joining Purdue, he served as an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at Saint Louis University and taught advertising research and strategic communication strategy.
Ju conducts research in the fields of advertising, PR, and marketing and health communication. His research addresses consumer health decisions, marketing ethics, and pro-consumer issues in digital media communication contexts. His work has been published in a wide range of peer-reviewed journals including Journal of Health Communication, Health Communication, Health Marketing Quarterly, Journal of Communication in Healthcare and Journal of Promotion Management, among others. He is an award-winning scholar and research fellowship recipient of the American Academy of Advertising (AAA) and served as an Advertising Educational Foundation (AEF) Visiting Professor.
Ju’s primary research interests are advertising, marketing communication effects and processes, persuasion, and pro-consumer issues in communication contexts. He teaches advertising, strategic communication research and planning, and integrated marketing communication.
Ju works with graduate students who are interested in advertising, PR, marketing, and health communication with both academic and career goals. His work with graduate students is mostly project-based and he invited students to join strategic and health communication projects based on topical and methodological alignment.
