The FORCES Initiative:

  • Connects faculty and graduate student scholars and researchers with funding opportunities to pursue projects and grants in strategy, security, and social systems;
  • Partners with current strategy and security military, academic, and civilian programs at Purdue to share expertise and build productive inter- and intra-disciplinary collaborations, and;
  • Educates and builds capacity within Purdue’s student body through strategy and technology courses and an engaging speaker series.

The initiative aligns with Purdue University’s strategic goal to establish ties with the national defense ecosystem and shape national and international strategic and security debates. During the 2019-2020 academic year, FORCES engaged in

  • A speaker series that brought leading subject matter experts to Purdue to educate undergraduate and graduate students;
  • An undergraduate/graduate course focused on Technology, War, and Strategy;
  • Promotion of funding opportunities for advancing research and learning in the areas of strategy, security, and social systems; and
  • Creation of strategic, interdisciplinary partnerships around strategy, security, and social systems research, scholarship and instruction.
