After graduating from Purdue in 1995, Michelle has enjoyed a 23-year career in advertising. She has created and championed award-winning, effective campaigns for world-class brands such as Ragú Pasta Sauce, DISH Network, Microsoft, Similac Baby Formula and Jim Beam Bourbon, just to name a few. Whether it's leading a creative team through a multi-channel brand launch, writing a 140-character twitter post, brainstorming a new campaign or creating a new TV commercial, Michelle’s goal is to make breakthrough work that changes consumer behavior and gets results.
Michelle joined SCOUT Marketing in 2016 as a Group Creative Director. She rose to Vice President, Management Creative Director in just 7 months, and now leads the creative, UX, Proof/Edit, and broadcast production departments across the healthcare division. Michelle also oversees overall operations and management of the Chicago office, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration and creating great work for SCOUT. Prior to SCOUT, Michelle spent three years as a Group Creative Director at HAVAS Worldwide Chicago. Michelle’s recent experience also includes five years at FCB Chicago, where she was a VP, Creative Director.
A strong proponent of mentoring and fostering young talent in the industry, Michelle is currently an Adjunct Professor in the School of Communications and the School of Continuing & Professional Studies at Loyola University Chicago.
Outside the office, Michelle enjoys traveling, yoga, and spending time with her husband, Darin Melnyk, and their dog Cajun, who is a rescue from Hurricane Katrina. Michelle lives in the city of Chicago and can often be found cheering on her beloved Chicago sports teams, including the Bears, White Sox, Blackhawks and Bulls.
