Director of External Relations and Communications for Purdue University's Mitch Daniels School of Business

Tim Newton is the Director of External Relations and Communications for Purdue University’s Mitch Daniels School of Business and a familiar voice to Purdue sports fans. Since 2010, he has been the play-by-play voice of Purdue Football, where he had served as host and producer of broadcasts on the Learfield Purdue Sports Network for 15 years. Since 1990, he has been the play-by-play voice of Purdue Women’s Basketball, including the call for the 1999 National Championship team. In December 2023, he called his 1,000th game for the Boilermakers, making him one of only two active radio voices in women’s basketball to reach this milestone. Tim was voted by his peers as the 2021 Indiana Sportscaster of the Year from the National Sports Media Association. Prior to working in the business school, Tim began his career as the sports director at WASK Radio in Lafayette (1982-86) before becoming a sportswriter for the local Journal & Courier (1987-89). He became a Purdue employee in 1989 in the Purdue News Service, and then joined the staff of the Purdue Alumni Association, where he served as editor of The Purdue Alumnus magazine
