Troy Harris is a 20 year veteran of the West Lafayette Police Department with a broad range of leadership experience in law enforcement. In his 20 years with the West Lafayette Police Department Troy has led the Criminal Investigation Division, the Special Services Division, and now serves as the Deputy Chief of Police.

As the Deputy Chief of Police Troy oversees the three divisions that make up the agency; Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, and the Special Services Division. Troy is responsible for the supervision of 82 employees and the agency’s 7 million dollar yearly budget.

Troy is a 1995 graduate from Purdue University where he double majored in Psychology and Sociology. Troy is also a graduate of the Northwestern University Police Staff and Command Executive Management Program. He was named Officer of the Year in 2010 for his leadership, supervision, and successful implementation of a narcotics unit responsible for the seizure of drugs and forfeiture of assets in excess of one million dollars. Troy is the first person from his family to attend college.

Troy lives with his wife Julie and three children ages 14, 12, and 10. He enjoys spending time with his family and participating in most outdoor activities.
