HOW HAS YOUR INTERNSHIP HELPED BUILD SKILLS AND CLARIFY YOUR CAREER GOALS?
My internship has enhanced my ability to be creative. In my role, I am constantly thinking of new story ideas whether it be for our Instagram and social media channels or are Newsletters that will engage are followers. I also have built the skills of efficiency. When on the production set, everything is fast pace. I go, specifically, to gain content and must work quickly to catch the moments of the show. It has helped me clarify my career goals because I have learned I like a fast pace work environment. I appreciate each day being different.
HOW DO YOU APPLY YOUR LIBERAL ARTS SKILLS IN YOUR INTERNSHIP?
I apply my Liberal Arts skills in every part of my internship. Whether I am writing the Newsletters or creating new content, I am challenged to utilize the skills of creative thinking that the Liberal Arts has given me.
WHAT IS THE TYPICAL DAY LIKE AS AN INTERN, ANY CHALLENGING OR EXCITING ASPECTS?
My typical day as an intern always changes. Some days I participate in demo day and take sledge hammers to the wall and other days I am creating DIYs to teach our followers. I also frequently follow the production schedule. I take before and after pictures of each house and follow Mina and Karen around. The most challenging aspect of my internship is producing content online efficiently. It is a very timely role. The most exciting thing about my role is the changing schedules everyday brings. I was most surprised that I may have been filmed on one of their episodes in season 4! (Fingers crossed I do not get the cut in the editing phase :)) The most meaningful experience has been how Two Chicks is in the growing phase. Each day their TV show grows in popularity. I am excited I get to be a part of this early stage!
