C-SPAN
What was the most exciting thing about your role?
The most exciting part of my internship as a marketing intern for the C-SPAN bus was the variety of projects that I worked on and the ability to travel with the bus reps and work for them at their community relations events.
Describe the most meaningful experience you had as an intern.
The most meaningful experience for me was building relationships with my co-workers. The fact that I was treated as a co-worker rather than an intern gave me the confidence to work hard and prove that I could be trusted with important projects. Getting the experience to travel and represent C-SPAN for the marketing events that I attended was also a wonderful learning experience.
How did you apply your Liberal Arts-skills to your internship position?
One of my Liberal Arts-skills that I applied to my marketing internship was my ability to complete full-detailed research through projects that I was given. The projects required me to think critically about what they wanted and I had to be able to fully research what they were asking for. I also applied my public speaking skills when I worked at the marketing events in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. I had to look approachable and get the attendees interested in what C-SPAN was offering at each event.
How has your internship prepared you for your career?
My internship gave me an inside look at how corporate marketing worked inside of a well-established non-profit. I was given many tasks that allowed me to develop a greater understanding of what a marketing representative does, giving me the ability to know if that’s what I want to pursue after college.
