Use multiple resources, don't be afraid to cold email companies to networking or expand your possible opportunities.

What key responsibilities or projects have you taken on during your internship?

Source financial talent through strategic outreach (via LinkedIn Recruiter and Indeed) and resume reviews, contributing to successful hiring outcomes. Build relationships with active and passive candidates through conducted interviews, references, and phone screens. Pitch career opportunities to passive candidates, generating interest using targeting sales techniques. Organization of applicant tracking system, including keeping data current and up to date.

How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals? How did being a Liberal Arts student at Purdue apply to your internship?

I have been able to building confidence in a professional scene, familarizing myself with organizational communication on a daily basis. One of the most useful skills I believe I've developed is Cold Calling, being able to build a professional relationship that can be useful to both the candidate and myself in the future. I was able begin my development by diving into the realm of recruiting and finding an understanding of if this career field was meant for me. Whether I continue recruiting or not, I am able to take the confidence and skills of networking with me to build relationships in which step is next! Being a liberal arts student supported my own communication and recruiting methods. Recruiting is a skillful craft that is successful when developing the methods that work best for you. My time as a student of Liberal Arts helped me understand the candidate and how to best reach out and build my relationship with them.

In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participation in our Job-Ready program specifically aided your professional development?

The College of Liberal Arts career advisors have been a great resource for me since the begining of Junior year. I was able to obtain resume reviews, linkedin edits, and overall optimize my job search with help of our advisors. The resources CLA provides for me helped me secure my position and build my professional confidence.
