Creative Service Intern, Hendricks Motorsports

1.) How did you learn about this internship opportunity?

I discovered the NASCAR Diversity Internship Program through LinkedIn. The program
placed me at Hendrick Motorsports, where I had the opportunity to work as a Creative
Services intern.

2.) How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals?  How do you apply your Liberal Arts skills to your internship?

This internship has enhanced my creative skills, particularly in media production and brand
storytelling, which align perfectly with my career goal of working in public relations or digital
media for a sports team or agency. Being a Liberal Arts student at Purdue helped me
approach projects with critical thinking, adaptability, and strong communication—skills I
applied when creating content and managing brand assets at Hendrick Motorsports.

3.) What is a piece of advice you would give someone looking for an internship?

Start networking early, and make use of platforms like LinkedIn to connect with industry
professionals. Seek out diverse opportunities that broaden your experience. Don’t hesitate to
apply for competitive programs or internships, especially those that align with your passions,
as they can provide invaluable hands-on learning.

4.) What specific responsibilities have you undertaken during your internship?

As a Creative Services intern, I was responsible for designing and producing visual content,
supporting branding initiatives, and assisting with media production. I also collaborated with
the marketing team on event promotions and helped ensure brand consistency across
various platforms.

5.) In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participation in our job-ready program specifically aided your professional development?

The College of Liberal Arts at Purdue has offered incredible resources such as career
advising, internship search support, and skill-building workshops. Participating in the
job-ready program gave me the confidence and practical tools to navigate the professional
world, helping me secure this internship. The program also emphasized leadership
development, which I applied during my time at Hendrick Motorsports.

6.) Could you highlight a standout aspect of your experience in this program that you find particularly noteworthy?

A standout moment was working on creative content for a major event at Hendrick
Motorsports. Seeing my designs and media contributions come to life in a professional
setting was incredibly fulfilling and further confirmed my passion for creative work in the
sports industry.
