Prisha Singhal
Majors: Industrial Engineering and Economics Honors
Industry Innovation Intern, Enfocus
1.) How did you learn about this internship opportunity?
I learnt about it through the Industrial Engineering career fair and networked with the recruiter to get an interview. They have a civic side that works with non-profits, regional development etc.
2.) How has your internship helped build your skills and clarify your career goals? How do you apply your Liberal Arts skills to your internship?
As an Economics student within the CLA, I take many classes within the Daniels School of Business, which helps me broaden my knowledge. This was very useful to me for working on my secondary project within my internship to conduct competitor analysis for a startup. EnFocus is very impact driven, and cares about the work they do at the grassroot level. This internship further strengthened my desire to go into social impact in the long run, where my Economics knowledge will be beneficial.
3.) What is a piece of advice you would give someone looking for an internship?
Attend all the career fairs, industry events, coffee chats etc. Networking gets you to places your resume won't! And always do your due diligence on a company before applying.
4.) What specific responsibilities have you undertaken during your internship?
N/A
5.) In what ways has the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University supported your internship journey? How has your participating in our job-ready program specifically aided your professional development?
Being a CLA student makes me stand out in a world full of engineers. As a double major, recruiters are always impressed when I am able to back my engineering degree with a holistic education and knowledge in Economics. The Job-Ready award helped me support summer classes during the internship so that I could graduate on time as a double major. Without the Degree+ program in the CLA, I would not be able to graduate with two degrees, and I know that having a BA+BS will be a huge asset to me in the long run.
6.) Could you highlight a standout aspect of your experience in this program that you find particularly noteworthy?
N/A
