Sports Communication Minor
Purdue’s Brian Lamb School of Communication offers a sports communication minor for students who want to learn about sports communication concepts while also engaging in sports communication through experiential learning.
With many sports internships and work opportunities both in Indianapolis and Greater Lafayette, students can gain experience while also learning about creating fan experiences, building lasting relationships between sports organizations, communities, and fans, and doing the work of sports communication, ranging from naming teams to managing crises.
Sports Communication Minor Requirements
To complete the sports communication minor, you will need to complete 15 credit hours of sport communication coursework.
You must take 3 of the following courses; no more than one can be from HK.
- COM 40001 Sports Communication Professions 3.00
- COM 40002 Sports Content Creation 3.00
- COM 49501 Sports Media Relations 3.00
- COM 49505 Sports Communication 3.00
- HK 32800 Business Of Professional Sports 3.00
- HK 37600 History Of Sport 3.00
- HK 42700 Sports Marketing 3.00
You must also take up to 6 credit hours from any combination of the courses below.
- COM 49000 Internship In Communication 1.00 to 6.00
- COM 49101 Boiler Communication 1.00
- COM 49701 Live Sports Broadcasting Summer 1.00
